Samtec, Inc. To Relocate Manufacturing Centers To Scottsburg, Indiana
09/04/2014
“The new facility will help us streamline operations in Southern Indiana and provide greater efficiencies in distribution and logistics,” said Keith Baumann, Global Facilities Manager for Samtec. “Scottsburg has numerous economic amenities that align with our global growth initiatives as a service and quality leader.”
Samtec’s new facility will be connected by a walkway to MASPark. The company chose to locate next to the science park to leverage MASPark’s Industrial Training Center for Advanced Manufacturing and virtual capabilities through the Worldwide Communications and Conference Center.
“Samtec will attract a new segment of entrepreneurs in the electronic interconnect industry,” said Joe Pearson, Executive Director of MASPark. “This is exactly what the community’s leadership set out to accomplish when they envisioned, planned and built a world-class science park in Scott County.”
“The City of Scottsburg and MASPark look forward to building a strong partnership with Samtec,” said Mayor Bill Graham. “In addition, we are excited to welcome Samtec and the business culture they will bring with them into our community.”
The Samtec consolidation is the result of a collaborative effort by the Scottsburg City Council, the Scottsburg Redevelopment Commission, the Scott County Economic Development Corporation and the Mid-America Science Park. The property will be owned by a Grover Stacy Company.
“We continuously strive to stay ahead of the curve when it comes to economic and workforce development, and we are committed to providing Samtec with the support they need to succeed here,” said Robert Peacock, Executive Director, of the Scott County Economic Development Corporation.
