The company's new manufacturing facility will produce semiconductor equipment components and parts.
“Strengthening America’s semiconductor leadership has never been more important than in today’s AI era,” said Applied Materials President and CEO Gary Dickerson. “We are honored to work alongside industry leaders to strengthen the U.S. chip supply chain.”
Applied Materials produces the complex machinery, software, and services needed to create chips for electronics, with its equipment playing a role in processes like deposition, etching, and inspection..
“Applied Materials’ new advanced manufacturing facility will further bolster Arizona’s robust semiconductor ecosystem and strengthen U.S. supply chain resiliency,” noted Arizona Commerce Authority (ACA) CEO Sandra Watson. “Across important areas such as equipment, (research and development) and workforce training, Applied has been a tremendous industry partner. We’re grateful for their continued leadership and commitment to Arizona.”
