Bericap USA Invests $29 Million On Plant Expansion in Cherokee County, South Carolina
01/10/2013
The custom-designed 90,000-square-foot expansion to the facility, located at the Upstate Corporate Business Park, will double the size of the plant. Installation of state-of-the-art equipment will begin immediately with the physical building expansion slated for second half of 2013. The site and building will allow room for future expansions when necessary.
“We are pleased to move forward with plans to expand our Cherokee County manufacturing operation. South Carolina has provided us with an excellent location to do business and a talented workforce to help us meet our goals. We appreciate all the support we’ve received from state and local officials,” said Anthony Scire, vice president of Operations for Bericap. “Demand for our innovative products is growing in the Southeast and this expansion will enable us to continue to support our customers with increased capacities and new products.”
“We are continuing to see existing South Carolina companies, like Bericap, choose to increase their footprints here and that’s a good sign we’re on the right track with our economic development efforts. We celebrate Bericap’s decision to invest $29 million and create 50 new jobs in Cherokee County. Today’s announcement is a big win for one of our state’s rural areas,” said Gov. Nikki Haley.
“South Carolina continues to see its manufacturing renaissance grow with announcements like this one from Bericap. Our manufacturing sector has been a wealth creator, and announcements like this help sustain our rural communities. Every one of these new jobs will have an impact in Cherokee County,” said Secretary of Commerce Bobby Hitt. As an incentive, the Coordinating Council for Economic Development approved job development credits, which will be available when hiring targets are met.
