Security Tech Company Expanding in Indiana

01/31/2008
Defender Direct, a distributor of and customer service provider for security technology products, will invest more than $15 million in an expansion of its operations in Indiana. The company, which currently employs 400 people in the state, plans to expand its existing international headquarters in Indianapolis and create at least 300 new jobs at that location. An additional 800 jobs are planned for one or more of the company's other locations in Greensburg and Sunman, Indiana, with the possibility of additional jobs added in Indianapolis or at a to-be-determined new location within the state. "With the many favorable changes that Indiana has made to its business climate, and the leadership that both the city and state have shown in supporting this phase of our expansion, we hope to continue our growth here for a long time," says David Lindsey, Defender Direct's president and CEO. Hiring for the new positions has already begun. State and local agencies have offered the company more than $6 million in performance-based tax credits and abatements, and training grants.
