Genentech Expands Hillsboro, Oregon, Production Operations

08/21/2026
Biotechnology company Genentech plans to expand its manufacturing campus in Hillsboro, Oregon. The $750 million project is expected to create 250 jobs.

The investment at the company’s existing facility will include the addition of device filling capabilities, expanding end-to-end manufacturing capacity.

“We are proud to make this significant new investment in Hillsboro, building on nearly two decades of Genentech manufacturing in Oregon,” said Genentech CEO Ashley Magargee. “Thanks to its skilled workforce and strong community, Hillsboro remains vital to our U.S. operations. By adding end-to-end filling capabilities, this expansion deepens our commitment to manufacturing in the U.S. and gives us the flexibility to support a growing pipeline.”

To support the project, the company has been awarded a forgivable loan from the Governor’s Strategic Reserve Fund.

“Genentech’s decision to invest in its future in Hillsboro says something powerful about where Oregon is headed,” noted Business Oregon Director Sophorn Cheang. “When a global leader in biotechnology looks at its campuses across the country and chooses Oregon, it helps set the stage for where we’re headed next.”

Genentech develops and manufactures medicines across therapeutic areas including oncology, immunology and neurology.
