Marathon Cheese Expands Booneville, Mississippi, Manufacturing Operations

08/21/2026
Custom cheese packaging and transportation company Marathon Cheese plans to expand its operations in Booneville, Mississippi. The $326,000 project is expected to create 39 jobs.

The investment at the company’s existing manufacturing facility will include the installation of a new production line and case packing equipment.

“The current capital investment, which includes the installation of a new slice line and case packing equipment, substantially increases the manufacturing capabilities of the Booneville plant and is expected to result in the creation of 39 new jobs,” said Marathon Cheese President Gary S. Bachand. “Booneville offers both the infrastructure and workforce needed by Marathon Cheese for this strategic investment. We are delighted to be working with the Mississippi Development Authority, Prentiss County and the city of Booneville on the current project to increase manufacturing capabilities and greatly appreciate the support we have received.”

To support the project, the Mississippi Development Authority (MDA) is providing assistance through the Mississippi Flexible Tax Incentive, or MFLEX, program. Prentiss County, the city of Booneville and the Tennessee Valley Authority are also assisting with the project.

“For more than six decades, Marathon Cheese has been an important part of the Booneville community,” noted Mississippi Development Authority Executive Director Bill Cork. “These are the types of companies that fuel Mississippi’s economic momentum – the ones that continue to expand in Mississippi and create opportunities in their communities. I thank the Marathon Cheese team for once again choosing Booneville and for investing in its future and the future of Prentiss County.”

Marathon Cheese provides custom cheese packaging and related services for food manufacturers and retailers.

“TVA and Prentiss County Electric Power Association congratulate Marathon Cheese on its decision to expand operations in Booneville,” added Tennessee Valley Authority Vice President of Economic Development Heidi Smith. “We are proud to partner with Mississippi Development Authority and Prentiss County Development Association in our shared commitment to fostering job growth in the region and to support companies like Marathon Cheese in its continued business success.”
