CP Industries Plans Expands Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, Manufacturing Operations

10/12/2026
Pressure vessel manufacturer CP Industries plans to expand its operations in McKeesport, Pennsylvania. The $21.7 million project is expected to create 78 jobs over the next five years in Allegheny County.

The investment will include construction of a new 25,000-square-foot facility that will produce high-pressure steel pressure vessels.

“We highly appreciate the support provided by the Commonwealth and other local agencies that allow us to continue our rich tradition in the McKeesport area,” said CP Industries President Michael Larsen. “We are excited to expand two of our critical product lines and continue to prove that this region provides world class manufacturing.”

To support the project, CP Industries received a funding proposal from the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) totaling $3,980,800, including a $3,060,000 Pennsylvania Industrial Development Authority loan, an $805,000 Pennsylvania First grant and a $115,800 WEDnetPA grant for workforce training.

“Pennsylvania’s manufacturers continue to prove they can compete with anyone when they have the right partners,” noted Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development Secretary Rick Siger. “CP Industries has deep roots in the Commonwealth, and this investment will help the company grow its operations, bring more manufacturing work back to Pennsylvania, and create new opportunities for workers in Allegheny County.”

CP Industries, part of EKC International, manufactures large seamless steel and composite pressure vessels used to contain and transport compressed gases.

“CP Industries’ expansion in McKeesport is a testament to Southwestern Pennsylvania’s competitive edge and our readiness to lead the energy transition,” added Allegheny Conference CEO Stefani Pashman. “Retaining and growing manufacturing pioneers like CPI in the Mon Valley is a major win – bringing high-quality jobs and critical capital investment to the community while strengthening the local supply chains that power a clean energy future. From supporting commercial natural gas fleets to driving hydrogen innovation, this expansion proves that our region has the skilled workforce, the infrastructure, and the collaborative ecosystem to help legacy companies scale up and compete on a national stage.”
