Italy-based Trelleborg Coated Systems US Invests $10.6 Million To Expand Its Rutherfordton, North Carolina, Operations Center
10/23/2013
A division of the Trelleborg Group, headquartered in Lodi Vecchio, Italy, Trelleborg Coated Systems is a supplier of polymer-coated fabrics used in several industrial applications. The firm supplies engineered fabrics for the development of aircraft evacuation slides and life rafts. It is expanding in Rutherfordton with the addition of a new production line to support the growth of the global aerospace market.
“Creating new jobs in North Carolina is one of my main priorities. We know that our strong business climate, superior infrastructure and talented workforce are very attractive to advanced manufacturers like Trelleborg,” said Gov. Pat McCrory. “We are keenly focused on working with existing businesses to help them expand right here in North Carolina.”
“We’re thrilled about Trelleborg’s growing investment in Rutherfordton and the new jobs they’ll create in a rural county hit hard by the recession,” said Secretary Decker. “Advanced manufacturing is our heritage and it’s also our future in North Carolina.”
The project was made possible in part by a $440,000 grant from the One North Carolina Fund. The grant is contingent upon proof of job creation and receipt of a local funding match. The One NC Fund provides financial assistance, through local governments, to attract business projects that will stimulate economic activity and create new jobs in the state. Companies receive no money up front and must meet job creation and investment performance standards to qualify for grant funds.
Other partners that helped with this project include: the N.C. Department of Commerce, N.C. Community Colleges, Rutherford County, Duke Energy, Town of Rutherfordton and the Rutherford County Economic Development Commission.
