SteelFab Plans Columbia, South Carolina, Manufacturing Operations

10/30/2026
Structural steel manufacturer SteelFab, Inc. plans to establish operations in Columbia, South Carolina. The $30 million project is expected to create 100 jobs in Richland County.

The company’s new manufacturing facility, located at 1030 Metso Way, will increase its steel fabrication capabilities for the construction industry.

“This investment represents another significant milestone in SteelFab's continued growth and commitment to South Carolina. For nearly four decades, we have been proud to be part of South Carolina's manufacturing community, and the establishment of our new Columbia facility builds on that strong foundation. This expansion will enhance our ability to serve the growing needs of the construction industry, create new opportunities for South Carolinians and position SteelFab for continued success in the years ahead,” said SteelFab COO Rob Rutherford.

To support the project, the South Carolina Coordinating Council for Economic Development approved job development credits.

“SteelFab’s $30 million investment in Richland County demonstrates the business-friendly reputation found in our state. The company’s decision to continue building on its South Carolina legacy will support economic growth and development throughout our region,” noted South Carolina Secretary of Commerce Harry M. Lightsey III.

SteelFab Inc. is a structural steel fabrication company providing steel products and services for commercial, industrial, institutional, and infrastructure construction projects.

“SteelFab Inc.’s investment demonstrates how Richland County’s existing industrial properties can create new opportunities for our residents. By bringing an underutilized building back into manufacturing use, this project will reinforce the manufacturing growth taking place throughout our county and create 100 new jobs,” added Richland County Council Chairwoman and Columbia Area Development Partnership Board Co-Chair Jesica Mackey.
