Premium Plate Expands, Mobile County, Alabama, Operations

10/28/2026
Steel processing company Premium Plate plans to expand operations in Axis, Alabama. The more than $20 million project is expected to create 12 jobs in Mobile County.

The investment will include the construction of a new manufacturing facility at 217 Salco Road steel processing capabilities, including cutting, blasting, painting, beveling and rolling. Production is scheduled to begin in January 2027.

“This project represents an important milestone for our company and demonstrates TF Warren’s continued commitment to investing in Premium Plate, our employees, our customers and the Gulf Coast region,” said Premium Plate General Manager Chad Odom. “The new facility will significantly expand our steel processing capabilities, improve efficiency and provide the capacity needed to support our customers as we continue to grow. We’re excited to make this investment in Mobile County and look forward to being part of the continued growth of manufacturing and industry in this community.”

Premium Plate, a TF Warren Company, specializes in the supply and processing of mill-certified carbon, alloy and stainless-steel plate and structural steel products. The company serves customers in construction, oil and gas, power generation, pressure vessels, marine, transportation and tank manufacturing.

“Premium Plate is an important supplier to a number of industries that are driving Mobile’s economy,” noted Mobile Chamber President and CEO Bradley Byrne. “This investment expands the capabilities available to companies throughout our region, strengthens our local supply chain and further enhances Mobile County’s growing metals sector. Their decision to establish a permanent facility here is another sign of confidence in the continued growth of our industrial economy.”
