Chinese Vanguard National Trailer Corporation Expanding in Monon, Indiana

Vanguard National Trailer Corporation, a subsidiary of the Chinese company China International Marine Containers Group Ltd., will create up to 20 new jobs in Monon, Indiana, by 2011. The company made the announcement while Governor Mitch Daniels was on a mission to Asia.

"Vanguard National's expansion in White County is great news as we continue our jobs hunting mission in Asia," Daniels said in Hangzhou, China. "A key objective of our trip is to cultivate existing relationships with companies like Vanguard so that when they are ready to invest again, they'll think of the friends they've made in the Hoosier State."

Vanguard will invest more than $600,000 to upgrade machinery and make facility improvements to its existing building in Monon. China International Marine Containers opened its Monon site in 2003. It is one of the world's largest makers of trailers, containers, tanks, and airport equipment.

The Indiana Economic Development Corporation has offered Vanguard up to $18,000 in training grants. White County will consider property tax abatement at the request of the White County Economic Development Group.
