Parking Meter Maker Hectronic Opens First U.S. Office in Chesapeake, Virginia

Hectronic, a German company that makes high-tech parking meters, has opened its first U.S. office in Chesapeake, Virginia. The project represents a $2 million expansion. The company's office currently employs three people and will add about two workers. The Hampton Roads Economic Development Alliance began working with Hectronic on a move in October 2009. The company produces "smart" parking meters that can accept a variety of payment methods and run on solar power charged batteries.
