McCormick Planning New Distribution Center for South Bend, Indiana

11/03/2010
Spice maker McCormick and Co. is planning to build a new 50,000-square-foot distribution center in South Bend, Indiana, to accommodate growing operations at the city's facility, the South Bend Tribune reports. The company will invest $6 million and receive tax abatement from the city, according to South Bend Mayor Stephen Luecke.

"This investment supports McCormick's vision of the South Bend facility becoming the supplier of choice, leading in reliability and industry measurements of excellence," wrote McCormick in a press release.

McCormick has 120 employees in South Bend, and will add about five more workers as a result of the expansion. The company plans to open the facility by June 2011. McCormick also considered Illinois and Michigan for the project.
