Norwegian Auto Component Manufacturer to Add 300 Jobs as Part of $7.3 Million Expansion in SC

11/08/2011
Kongsberg Automotive, a maker of automotive components, has announced it will invest $7.3 million to expand its Pickens County, South Carolina, facility and create 300 jobs. The project is expected to begin in early 2012 and be completed in five years, said company officials.

Headquartered in Kongsberg, Norway, Kongsberg Automotive develops and manufactures systems for gearshift, clutch actuation, seat comfort, stabilizing rods, couplings and components for the aerospace, truck and automotive industries. The company has 48 facilities in 20 countries and more than 10,000 employees.

"This expansion will help our plant remain competitive and meet increasing customer demand," said Plant Manager Matt McKinnon. "Pickens County has provided us with an excellent business environment in which to operate. We greatly appreciate the support from state and local officials."

Hiring for the new jobs starts in January.
