12/15/2022
The investment will allow the company to expand and update its equipment inventory and manufacturing capabilities to reach a larger customer base across the Southeast. The investment follows the company’s acquisition by Cinco Research Corporation in February.
“Cinco Research is thankful for the support of the State of Tennessee, Tri-Cities, Carter County and the City of Elizabethton in supporting our growth at our fully owned subsidiary, General Machine. This investment will support the expansion of our machine shop contract production for existing and new customers and also the development and production of our in-house products. We will focus on our innovative, patent pending, high temperature reciprocating pumps for nuclear, solar, and energy storage applications, which will support our industrial, energy and defense customers,” William Sames, president, Cinco Research Corporation said.
Founded and headquartered in Elizabethton, Tennessee, General Machine and Tool Company, Inc. is a premier full-service machine part manufacturer and distributor of one-off parts. The company, which primarily serves the Tri-Cities region, has been operating from its Northeast Tennessee facility since 1967.
“General Machine has called Elizabethton home for more than 50 years, and we are proud that this Tennessee-based brand has once again chosen to do business in the Volunteer State. Today’s announcement is proof that Carter County’s business climate and central location are the ideal match for General Machine,” TNECD Commissioner Stuart McWhorter noted.
“TVA and Elizabethton Electric Department congratulate General Machine on its decision to expand operations in Carter County. It’s always an exciting day when we can celebrate a company’s commitment to growth in the Valley. We are proud to partner with the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development and the City of Elizabethton to help support companies like General Machine, that are creating new jobs and investment in the region, and we celebrate this announcement together,” John Bradley, TVA senior vice president of Economic Development added.
