Consumer Cellular Establishes Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Customer Service Hub
12/23/2021
The company is leasing two floors of the Baker Hughes building at 12701 N Santa Fe Ave. at the Kilpatrick Turnpike.
“As our company continues to grow, it is vital to expand our footprint to remain competitive,” said Consumer Cellular CEO Ed Evans. “Oklahoma City is the perfect location to serve our customers located in the middle of the country. I appreciate the support from our team, as well as all of our partners in the state who helped make this possible. With this move, we look forward to bettering our award winning service, while being a community partner in Oklahoma City.”
According to company officials, Consumer Cellular is not participating in the state Quality Jobs Program, which offers incentives in the form of limited reimbursement for companies' payroll expenses.
“We are thrilled that Consumer Cellular has chosen Oklahoma City for its new customer service center and I am delighted to welcome Ed and his team back to Oklahoma,” said Scott Mueller, Oklahoma Secretary of Commerce and Workforce Development. “Our central location, low cost of doing business and our qualified and capable workforce continually position Oklahoma well as companies look to expand. I look forward to working alongside Consumer Cellular as they launch their operations and in the years to come.”
Consumer Cellular was established in 1995 in Portland, Oregon. It moved to Scottsdale in 2019. Evans and a private equity group bought the company about a year ago. The company is growing after forming a partnership with Target, and plans to open numerous brick-and-mortar stores next year, company officials noted.
“I am proud to be one of the first to welcome Consumer Cellular to Oklahoma City,” Oklahoma City Chamber President and CEO Roy Williams said. “This is a growing company with a strong track record for employee engagement and community partnership. We look forward to working with them as they continue to grow.”
