12/07/2011
The newspaper reported that the new jobs will boost the facility's payroll by approximately $2.2 million.
The company also plans on retaining 636 jobs at the plant; those existing positions represent $22.3 million in local payroll disbursements.
Whirlpool, the world's leading manufacturer and marketer of major home appliances, posted sales of over $18 billion in 2010 and celebrated its 100th anniversary on Nov. 11, 2011. Its corporate office is based in Benton Harbor, Michigan.
This past October Whirlpool announced it would cut loose 5,000 jobs-or about 10 percent of its workforce in Europe and North America-due to increased cost of key materials and soft demand for its products.
