IKO Plans Shingle Manufacturing Plant In Hillsboro, Texas
02/05/2015
Late last year, IKO finalized its acquisition of the Hillsboro property, located near the junction of Interstate 35 and Highway 81 in Hillsboro. The company plans to build a state of the art shingle manufacturing plant on the site. Hillsboro will mark the fifth roofing shingle plant that the IKO family of companies operates in the United States, and the sixth new manufacturing facility that they have built in the U.S. since 1999.
"It's an exciting time for us at IKO," notes Derek Fee, IKO's Manager of Corporate Communications. "The planned Hillsboro facility will be the first we've constructed in the southwest, and will provide us with a national manufacturing footprint in the United States for the first time in our company's 60 year history. IKO continues to strive to be among the most technologically advanced roofing manufacturers in North America, and the plant we build in Hillsboro will reflect that commitment. We're looking forward to getting started, and we're tremendously grateful for the warm welcome we've received from the leadership and citizens of the City of Hillsboro. We're very much looking forward to a long and prosperous future as part of this community."
The company expanded its manufacturing operations into the southeast last year, opening the doors on a 330,000 square foot shingle facility in Sylacauga, Alabama.
