03/03/2011
The company will also add 75,000 square feet to an existing facility in Renton. The increased footage will house seats and in-flight entertainment systems that are made by vendors and installed towards the end of assembly, according to Boeing spokesperson Liz Verdier.
Boeing will increase its production of the jets from 31.5 per month to 35 a month in 2012 and 38 a month in 2013. It will add the workers in two stages of 600 employees. The company employed 10,400 people in Renton at the end of 2009, according to the most recent company figures.
Some of the employees will be transferred from other Boeing locations.
