Gallus Biopharmaceuticals to Retain/Add 320 Jobs in Missouri

05/22/2011
Gallus Biopharmaceuticals, a new manufacturer of biologic pharmaceuticals, announced it will locate its production facility in St. Louis County, Missouri. The move will retain and create hundreds of jobs for Missourians and investing millions in the local economy.

Recently Gallus purchased the former 15-acre, 200,000-square-foot Centocor Biologics facility in Berkeley. The company plans to make an initial capital investment of $20 million to expand the facility, hire about 160 Centocor employees; and create about 160 new jobs over the next five years. The average salary is expected to be $88,500.

Gallus Biopharmaceuticals is a contract manufacturer of pharmaceuticals produced from cell cultures. It plans on expanding the commercially certified, FDA-approved facilities at the former Centocor plant by building a clinical services suite, expanding the existing development lab and fitting out a commercial suite.

The state of Missouri awarded Gallus a $14.6 million economic incentive package, redeemable over the next 10 years.
