Lenovo Expands Its Global Services Business; Creates 300 Jobs in N. Carolina
05/22/2011
Lenovo officials said the new jobs will help it meeting the growing news of both its local and global customers. In 2010, the company achieved the status as the world's fastest-growing major PC manufacturer, and posted its highest ever worldwide market share.
ACS will support Lenovo customers in the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand through its industry-leading customer services utilizing telephone, e-mail and web chat. Together ACS and Xerox employ 3,600 workers in North Carolina, including nearly 2,300 people in Greater Raleigh.
North Carolina Governor Bev Perdue said that in addition to bringing "significant" new employment opportunities to North Carolinians, this business expansion will "create a larger ripple effect across our state's economy" She added that Lenovo exemplifies how her state "and a global company started in China" can mutually benefit from the high-tech, highly innovative workforce we've cultivated here in the Triangle region."
In addition to the 300 jobs just announced, Lenovo's Global Services team is also adding 100 new positions in multiple world locations. Presently it provides services and maintains relationships with customers in over 180 countries. Lenovo's major research centers are located in Yamato, Japan; Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen, China; and Raleigh, North Carolina.
