BMW Expanding in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Illinois

06/17/2008
As part of a large-scale series of projects that includes a recent $750 million investment in South Carolina, automaker BMW has completed a $100 million addition to expand its U.S. headquarters in Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey. The new buildings will house BMW Group's national training center, the Eastern Sales Region, and the U.S. engineering operations. More than 1,000 employees will now be employed at the facility. The company has also announced that more than $170 million will be used to build two new regional parts distribution centers in Pennsylvania and Illinois by the end of this year, with details on locations and job creation to follow. "The investments are a clear sign of our strong belief in the potential of the U.S. market," says Ian Robertson, a member of BMW AG's board of management responsible for sales and marketing. "The U.S. will remain by far the leading premium vehicle market in terms of size and impact, and we are well prepared to be part of the growth."
