Vector Aerospace’s Expansion at Alabama Airport Expected to Generate 125 Jobs

06/03/2011
Vector Aerospace has announced that it will add 42,000 square feet to its facility at the South Alabama Regional Airport in Andalusia, AL. The expansion is expected to create nearly 125 new jobs in Covington County. Plans call for the construction project to be completed this September.

Headquartered in Toronto, Canada, the company is a global leader in aerospace maintenance, repair and overhaul. According to its website, its "highly skilled and experienced workforce" at the Alabama airport facility provides structural and component repair services on the Bell and Eurocopter product lines, full-service avionics support, plus a number of other key services.

Vector CEO Declan O'Shea praised the firm's Covington County employees. He noted that it "wasn't by any accident" that this Vector Aerospace operation has "shortened turn times, improved customer satisfaction.and doubled the size of the business."

While neither the company nor state has yet issued a press release about the project's value, the Associated Press said Andalusia Mayor Earl Johnson announced last October the company was working on a $3 million expansion plan.

Vector employs about 2,400 people in 13 facilities in the U.S., the United Kingdom, Africa and Canada.
