Japan-Based Kyoto Fusioneering Plans Oak Ridge, Tennessee, Headquarters-Operations

Fusion technology developer Kyoto Fusioneering plans to establish operations in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. The $46.9 million project is expected to create 51 jobs in Anderson County.

The investment will include the construction of a fusion nuclear test facility located at Oak Ridge National Laboratory that will use a deuterium-tritium fusion neutron source to test and validate technologies under fusion-nuclear conditions, supporting the development of commercial fusion power plants.

“Relocating our U.S. headquarters to Oak Ridge was a strategic decision driven by our partnership with ORNL and the region’s rich nuclear innovation ecosystem. By anchoring our operations here, we are doing more than expanding KF—we are building the critical, commercial-scale testing infrastructure and robust supply chains that the entire fusion industry needs to scale. We are incredibly grateful for the welcoming business climate fostered by TNECD and the State of Tennessee, whose support makes this landmark investment possible,” said Bibake Uppal, President of Kyoto Fusioneering America.

Kyoto Fusioneering develops fusion technology and integrated systems for public and private fusion energy programs. The company provides plasma heating, breeding blanket, power generation, and tritium fuel cycle systems and operates across Asia, Europe, and North America.
