Swedish Energy Company to Locate U.S. Base in Maryland

08/24/2009
Swebo Bioenergy International, a manufacturer of equipment for environmentally sustainable electricity production, will locate its U.S. headquarters in Annapolis, Maryland, according to the Maryland governor's office. The Sweden-headquartered company plans to establish its first U.S. offices first with three initial employees, then start up its manufacturing operation and hire up to 20 additional employees. "We were quite thrilled by the great support we fel from the state," says Mattias Lindgren, Swebo Bioenergy's CEO, quoted in the Baltimore Sun. "We met with many people and we feel the support and we feel welcomed." The Sun says Lindgren cites Annapolis' proximity to Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport and nearby Baltimore's harbor and ports as key factors to the location decision. The Sun also reports that the state is not providing any financial incentives to the company.
