Bob Evans Closing Galva, Illinois Sausage-Making Facility
08/09/2010
"We have great employees at our Galva facility, and we have a long history there," said Bob Evans Food Products President Mike Townsley. "Our business model needs to adapt to these tough market conditions. We need to manage our assets to stay competitive long term."
The company will redistribute the Galva workload to other sausage-making facilities in Xenia and Bidwell, Ohio; Hillsdale, Michigan; and Richardson, Texas. Bob Evans opened the Galva site in 1972 with 25 workers. The company declined an incentive package from the city to keep the plant open.
