Toys "R" Us Completes E-Commerce DC in McCarran, Nevada
09/21/2011
"Toys"R"Us continues to make important investments to advance service and satisfaction across its distribution channels and the new McCarran facility will significantly increase our capacity to meet the demand of customers utilizing our enhanced omnichannel services," said Jerry Storch, Chairman and CEO, Toys"R"Us, Inc. "We're proud to expand our presence in Nevada and thank Governor Sandoval, the Northern Nevada Development Authority, the Nevada Commission on Economic Development and the Storey County Community Development Department for their tremendous support in helping us bring jobs and commerce to the state."
"I congratulate Toys"R"Us on the completion of this state-of-the-art distribution center and applaud its continued investment in Nevada. The key to Nevada's future lies in job creation and with the opening of this facility, Toys"R"Us has demonstrated its commitment to economic growth and job development in our state," said Brian Sandoval, Governor of Nevada.
The McCarran distribution center will support the growing Toys"R"Us® e-commerce business, which is fueled by the company's omnichannel strategy, allowing customers to shop seamlessly in stores, online and engage with Toys"R"Us and Babies"R"Us® from anywhere, including through mobile devices. The McCarran facility began operating in July as the newest of 12 company sites dedicated to store distribution and e-commerce fulfillment and currently employs more than 60 full- and part-time associates, with the plan to build that staff to more than 120 full- and part-time employees annually. During the holiday season, approximately 230 seasonal positions will be added to help fulfill orders. Candidates seeking employment can visit Ruscareers.com for more information, as well as a list of available positions.
Following an extensive search of potential sites in the western United States, McCarran, NV was selected for its optimal location to the nearby city of Reno and access to interstate transportation networks. The Toys"R"Us distribution center resides in a newly constructed warehouse within the Tahoe-Reno Industrial Center. The 300,000-square-foot facility was renovated to suit high-tech innovations in warehouse control technology that streamline both inbound and outbound transport. The site also employs an effective, efficient shipping process and utilizes a state-of-the-art robotic picking system to move and complete outbound orders.
