Advanced Manufacturing & Power Systems Plans $2.3 Million Operations Center In Abbeville, South Carolina
11/19/2015
In an effort to better serve its growing customer-base, AMPS has decided to establish its first South Carolina operations in Abbeville County. To house the new facility, the company is leasing space inside the Abbeville County Business Incubator at Lakelands Commerce Center, which is situated off of S.C. Highway 72 in Abbeville. The plant is expected to be fully operational by January 2016.
“The collaboration between the South Carolina Department of Commerce and the economic development group of Abbeville County has been exemplary. We look forward to opening our new facility in Abbeville and bringing new jobs and growth to the area,” Advanced Manufacturing & Power Systems, Inc. President Joseph Scofield said.
“The pro-business environment in South Carolina and, in particular the helpful effort put forth by Abbeville County, is noted and greatly appreciated. This is just a first step as we look forward to hopefully significantly expanding this and other businesses into the state,” Chairman of AMPS and Managing Director of T5 Equity Partners, LLC Ira J. Perlmuter explained.
Established in 1999 and headquartered in DeLand, Florida, AMPS is a specialty severe power systems integrator, servicing the power generation industry. The company was the first, and is still only one of two, State of Florida-certified, high velocity hurricane zone (HVHZ)-rated manufacturers. The firm is owned by Pacific International, LLC, an affiliate of the Triple Five Group, which also owns and operates The Mall of America.
As an incentive, the Coordinating Council for Economic Development has approved job development credits related to the project.
“Any day that we’re able to announce new jobs in one of our rural counties is a great day in South Carolina. Companies from around the world are hearing about our workforce and our business-friendly environment, and they know they can succeed in every part of our state. The 48 new jobs Advanced Manufacturing & Power Systems is bringing to Abbeville County really will make a difference in that community,” said Governor Nikki Haley.
