Hatteras Yachts Adds 350 Jobs in New Bern, North Carolina
Area Development Online News Desk (07/21/2010)
Brunswick Corporation, parent company of New Bern, North Carolina’s Hatteras Yachts, is growing in Craven County. Hatteras will create 350 jobs and invest $4.7 million in the coming five years. The expansion will place the two companies in the same facility.

“Combining these two great brands under one roof in New Bern is the next step in how we are preparing for a magnificent future,” said Hatteras President and CEO James R. Meyer. “For the past 18 months, we have been investing heavily in new products and modernizing our factory here, and now, with help from North Carolina, we will be able to fully leverage these investments by completing this move.”

Brunswick, which purchased California-based Cabo Yachts in 2006, will consolidate its West Coast facility into the New Bern site.

The One North Carolina Fund has offered the company a grant of up to $60,850. It is also eligible for a Job Development Investment Grant from the state.

The company already employs 279 workers in New Bern. The facility will produce luxury sportfishing convertibles and motoryachts.
