Alberta Nanotechnology Company Expands
Location Canada 2010
"Now we are ready to make the big jump from a 15 employee company to providing a significant number of high-value jobs in Edmonton," said Steve Petrone, Quantiam's CEO and CTO. "And we expect to double in capacity in two years."
Quantiam produces nanotechnology-based coatings for the olefin industry, which produces plastics, antifreeze, and lubricants. Those petrochemicals are notoriously detrimental to the environment because of their greenhouse gas emissions and heat expenditures. But Quantiam's coatings allow petrochemical factories to cut carbon dioxide output and work at a temperature of 50 degrees cooler.
Due to its products' ease on the environment, Quantiam has received research and development funding from Ottawa and Alberta, and a National Research Council award for technical innovation
