Indiana Galvanizing Invests $3 Million to Locate Plant in Middlebury, Indiana
12/10/2012
The company shares common ownership with Bob Monnig Industries, Inc. and Universal Galvanizing, Inc. The facility, which is slated to be operational next summer, will house the company’s zinc coating operations. The company is currently hiring management, maintenance and manufacturing personnel.
“Indiana Galvanizing’s expansion continues to add to Indiana’s fervent economic momentum. Our nationally acclaimed, business-friendly climate is unmatched and makes the Hoosier State stand out as the top place to grow business,” said Dan Hasler, Secretary of Commerce and chief executive officer of the Indiana Economic Development Corporation.
Founded in Glasgow, Mo. in 1960, Bob Monnig Industries is a third generation, family-owned galvanizing business that operates two facilities in Missouri, employing approximately 130 associates. Indiana Galvanizing is a new business founded by the Monnig family that serves the transportation, agriculture and energy industries through its hot-dip galvanizing operations, a process that coats steel with zinc to prevent corrosion.
“Elkhart County was a perfect fit for the new location,” said Ryan Monnig, plant manager of Bob Monnig. “Not only did it meet the geographic requirements, but it also has the small town values and work ethic that we feel is vital to our success.”
As an incentive, Indiana Economic Development Corporation offered Indiana Galvanizing, LLC up to $400,000 in performance-based tax credits and up to $50,000 in training grants based on the company’s job creation plans. These incentives are performance-based, meaning until Hoosiers are hired, the company is not eligible to claim incentives. In addition, Elkhart County will consider additional tax abatement at the request of the Economic Development Corporation of Elkhart County.
"I am extremely pleased to have Bob Monnig locate its new hot-dip galvanizing plant in Elkhart County,” said David Foutz, a member of the Elkhart County council. “This facility will complement our rapidly growing metal finishing sector while adding high-paying jobs to our existing manufacturing base. We would be thrilled to have Bob Monning Industries as a partner in the dynamic industrial growth of Elkhart County."
