Furniture Manufacturer Sees Signs of Economic Turnaround, Expands Production
03/26/2012
"Like other businesses, we adjusted our manufacturing footprint to coincide with the downturn in the economy and significant drop in demand over the last four years," Brent Hayman, Armstrong Jackson plant manager, said. "Now we're seeing some demand return, and as a result, we're adding shifts in certain facilities like Jackson to fill our customer's needs. We are excited about the additional jobs we can bring to Jackson, and we look forward to continued success and partnership with the community."
Armstrong World Industries, Inc. operates 32 plants in eight countries with approximately 9,100 employees worldwide. The Jackson facility is located at 154 Rosedale Street.
"We're working to create the best environment for creating jobs, and our Jobs4TN strategy focuses on expanding existing businesses in Tennessee," Gov. Bill Haslam said. "Armstrong's decision to expand in Jackson is great news for Jackson and West Tennessee. Tennessee offers tax incentives to companies based on hiring of new employees
"Jackson continues to improve thanks in large part to our existing industries like Armstrong," Jerry Gist, Jackson mayor, said. "We are pleased to be able to announce new jobs, and with Armstrong's expansion, 95 jobs will be added to Jackson's growing business community."
