Clayton Supply Plans Manufacturing Plant in Westmoreland, Tennessee
04/22/2019
The supply facility, scheduled to begin operations early 2020, will be dedicated to the launch of a new division of pre-manufactured assemblies for on-site home builders. Clayton plans to manufacture wall panels and trusses for single and multifamily residential site-built homes.
Headquartered in Maryville, Tennessee and a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway, Clayton is one of the largest homebuilders in the nation and offers traditional site-built homes and off-site built housing, including modular homes, manufactured homes, tiny homes, college dormitories, military barracks and apartments.
“Clayton Supply Westmoreland is a tangible continuation of our vision to adapt innovations in the off-site housing industry for on-site building methods. We look forward to developing Clayton Supply Westmoreland into a world-class working environment for our team members so that they have a place that they are excited to come to work to every day,” Keith Holdbrooks, President of Clayton Home Building Group said.
“As one of Tennessee’s largest private employers, Clayton has been a valuable part of our state’s economy for more than 60 years. I’m excited to see the positive impact this investment will have on Sumner County,” said Governor Bill Lee.
“For decades, Clayton has helped make home ownership attainable for countless families across this country. We’re proud that Clayton calls Tennessee home, and this expansion in Westmoreland promises to inject family wage jobs into rural Sumner County,” said Bob Rolfe, Commissioner of TNECD.
“Clayton will bring new business and rural development to an existing facility that will create a pathway for our students and workforce to have a career in their hometown of Westmorland,” Westmoreland Mayor Jerry Kirkman said.
