Nadicom Investing $85M in Iowa City Iron Foundry
04/27/2011
"We plan to build this operation from the ground up, and wanted a location that would allow us to leverage our location to maximize productivity," said Nadicom CEO Prasad Karunakaran. "This Iowa City site provided a central location, complete with rail and other logistical considerations, and access to a world-class work force."
Competitive utility rates from MidAmerican Energy also encouraged Nadicom to select Iowa City. The company acknowledged Iowa's 260E job training program with Kirkwood Community College as part of its decision.
The foundry will cast and machine large castings, initially for wind turbine applications.
