Superior Dairy Incorporated Expands Canton, Ohio Production Complex

07/10/2020
Superior Dairy Incorporated, a manufacturer of milk products, plans to expand its production center in Canton, Ohio. The project will result in 123 new jobs and the retention of 313 jobs.

The expansion is necessary to support new aseptic processes and packaging lines that will enable the company to expand into new markets that complement their fluid dairy component, according to Team NEO and JobsOhio. Superior Dairy will also implement new manufacturing lines, which will include growth in their cottage cheese, sour cream and cream product lines as well as the preliminary implementation of a new caseless line.

Greg Soehnlen President of Superior Dairy said, “Our team of dedicated employees is proud to continue the rapid growth which makes our company the largest fluid milk producer serving customers throughout the United States. Our family has called Canton and Ohio home for 100 years. This investment continues our focus on innovation and technology that will help us expand beyond the U.S. and ultimately feed the world with the highest quality products from Superior Dairy.”

“This is fantastic news for our community and Ohio,” said State Senator Kirk Schuring. “It was a great partnership to ensure the project moved forward in Canton as we worked with the teams at Superior Dairy, JobsOhio, Team NEO, the Stark County Commissioners, Perry Township, the Stark Economic Development Board, as well as my fellow state elected officials.”

Food manufacturing is a thriving cluster in Northeast Ohio, with more than 370 food processing and manufacturing establishments supplying food and beverages to consumers worldwide. “Our region has a competitive advantage for the food and beverage industry due to our proximity to market, skilled talent and supply-chain access,” added Team NEO CEO Bill Koehler.

“Stark County is a leader in the food production industry,” added Ray Hexamer, president of Stark Economic Development Board. “The Soehnlen family has been a blessing to Canton, Ohio and Stark County for 100 years. Their investment in technology and innovation has made them experience amazing growth which continues to create good jobs for Stark County. This is wonderful news and the community appreciates Superior Dairy’s investment in our community.”
