Mercom Corporation Invests $1 million To Expand Operations Center In Pawley’s Island, South Carolina
08/13/2012
Mercom specializes in design, integration and installation of information technology systems and program and project management in the commercial and government sectors. The company will expand its facility on Pawley's Island to meet increasing demand for its services, the South Carolina Department of Commerce said.
"Our company continues to see growth, and we are pleased to move forward with this expansion. South Carolina has been an excellent fit for our business over the years. Georgetown County provides us with an excellent business environment and a strong workforce, and we look forward to continue doing business here. We appreciate all the support we've received from state and local officials," said Mercom Vice President/Chief Operating Officer Larry Mercado.
While information about whether any incentives were offered to the firm was not immediately available, Gov. Nikki Haley said, "We celebrate Mercom's decision to expand its Pawley's Island operation with an investment of $1 million and the creation of 30 new jobs. South Carolina continues to show it's the right place for a business to grow and prosper."
"It's always exciting to see a company expand in one of our rural counties and help bolster community sustainability. We appreciate Mercom's decision to expand in the Palmetto State. Every one of these jobs will have impact in Georgetown County," said Secretary of Commerce Bobby Hitt.
"Georgetown County is excited that a state of the art technology firm such as Mercom is expanding its organization in our county. Its success speaks volumes for the skilled workforce in our area. Georgetown County is committed to creating a pro-business environment that allows quality companies like Mercom to flourish," said Georgetown County Council Chairman Johnny Morant.
