Owens Corning Plans Prattville, Alabama, Shingle Manufacturing Operations

09/27/2025
Building products manufacturer Owens Corning plans to establish operations in Prattville, Alabama. The project is expected to create 100 jobs in Autauga County.

The investment will include the construction of a 250,000-square-foot shingle manufacturing facility, located at the South Industrial Park, which will operate a four-wide laminator capable of producing approximately 6 million squares of laminate shingles per year. Production is scheduled to begin in 2027.

“Our new Prattville facility will service our growing contractor network as we strengthen our U.S. manufacturing footprint,” said Nico Del Monaco, Owens Corning Roofing President. “We are proud to join the Prattville community and expand Owens Corning’s presence in Alabama. “This is an attractive location to service our customers, with a dedicated workforce that takes pride in producing a quality product. We look forward to deepening our engagement with the local community.”

The project will be supported by a $4.9 million investment from the Growing Alabama program. In addition, AIDT, Alabama’s primary workforce development agency, will provide services valued at $885,000.

“This project demonstrates Alabama’s growing reputation as a hub for advanced manufacturing,” noted Ellen McNair, Secretary of the Alabama Department of Commerce. “Owens Corning’s decision to bring this innovative facility to Prattville reflects our state’s strong business climate and our commitment to supporting forward-looking companies with the infrastructure and workforce they need to succeed.”

Owens Corning produces fiberglass-based products that enhance energy efficiency, durability, and safety in residential, commercial, and industrial applications. The company currently operates 150 facilities globally, with 16 asphalt roofing and components manufacturing facilities in the U.S.
