Sun King Brewing Company Invests $3.9 Million To Expand Its Indianapolis, Indiana, Production Facility
01/17/2013
Established in 2009, Sun King Brewing brews and distributes handcrafted seasonal and specialty beers that are available on tap and in cans at hundreds of locations in central Indiana. The company will add 1,850 square feet to its existing 2,700 square-foot facility located at 135 N. College Ave. in Indianapolis. The facility will house 240 barrel fermentation tanks to allow for an increase in beer production.
“We work hard to make great beer and are ecstatic that so many people love what we do,” said Clay Robinson, brewer and owner of Sun King Brewing. “Our growth is driven by demand for our beers, we are grateful for the opportunity.”
“There is no better story to tell than that of a homegrown Hoosier company that continues to grow and create new jobs,” said Eric Doden, president of the Indiana Economic Development Corporation. “We are committed to fostering a strong business climate so that companies across our state can succeed and many more stories like Sun King Brewing can be written.”
As an incentive, The Indiana Economic Development Corporation offered Sun King Brewing Company, LLC up to $240,000 in conditional tax credits and up to $60,000 in training grants based on the company’s job creation plans. These tax credits are performance-based, meaning until Hoosiers are hired, the company is not eligible to claim incentives. The city of Indianapolis approved additional incentives at the request of Develop Indy.
“Sun King Brewery has a choice, and they choose to invest in Indianapolis. Our pro-business climate and stable tax structure are some of the great reasons top companies such as Sun King Brewery locate and expand operations here,” said Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard. “A model corporate citizen, Sun King Brewery sponsors hundreds of events in Indianapolis each year and contributes to numerous community organizations. We congratulate Sun King Brewery on this expansion and look forward its continued success in the future.”
