Brazilian Fast-Food Chain, Giraffas USA, Invests $8 Million To Establish US Headquarters In Miami, Florida
01/21/2013
Giraffas, a well-known restaurant chain with nearly 400 restaurants in Brazil, opened its new headquarters in the City of Miami. “Because of Miami’s diversity, it is the perfect place for our concept which is Brazilian/American style food,” said Joao Barbosa, CEO. “The restaurants have been well received with all three becoming quickly profitable.” The company has reached a benchmark of hiring more than 100 full-time employees both to work in the restaurant and operations.
“Giraffas USA is a great addition to Miami-Dade County and a perfect fit for our culturally diverse community,” said Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez. “I’m excited for the many local jobs that Giraffas is creating, the wise economic investment that they’re making here, and the great Brazilian food that they’re serving up – bem-vindo!”
The company was referred to The Beacon Council by Enterprise Florida, the state's official economic development organization. The Beacon Council assisted the company with research and marketing analysis, business contacts and referrals and general community information.
“Adding 285 jobs for our residents is indeed something we should celebrate,” said Frank R. Nero, President and Chief Executive Officer of The Beacon Council. “Brazil is one of our top targeted international markets. We recently participated in the Governor’s mission to Brazil and we continue to seek a high level of interest from Brazilian companies.”
