Creel Plans Colorado Springs, Colorado, Shelling-Distribution Operations

07/18/2026
The Creel family plans to establish operations in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The $50 million project is expected to create approximately 50 jobs.

The investment will include the construction of a new pecan shelling and distribution facility at Peak Innovation Park. Operations are scheduled to begin in August 2027.

“As a family business, every investment we make is a long-term commitment. Colorado Springs impressed us not just as a great place to do business, but as a place where families, businesses, and communities grow together,” said Luis Creel, owner of the new facility. “We are proud to expand our pecan operations here and grateful for the warm welcome we’ve received and support from the city.”

To support the project the City of Colorado Springs is providing assistance through its Rapid Response Program, which expedites land use and building permit approvals. In addition, El Paso County estimates the project is eligible for up to $610,990 in performance-based Colorado Enterprise Zone state tax credits and exemptions.

“The Creel family’s investment demonstrates that Colorado Springs is a place where businesses can grow for generations,” noted Bonnie Goff, Vice President of Economic Development for the Colorado Springs Chamber & EDC. “This project strengthens our region’s food and agriculture sector, creates quality jobs, and adds an important new manufacturing operation to Peak Innovation Park. We look forward to supporting the Creel family in their continued success in Colorado Springs.”

The Creel family's pecan business grows, harvests, shells, and distributes pecans for wholesale and commercial markets. The family’s operations include more than 1,050 acres of pecan orchards, sustainable orchard management, pecan processing, and distribution through an integrated agricultural business.
