Attala Steel Industries Adds Galvanizing Plant At Its Kosciusko, Mississippi, Mill Facility
10/01/2013
The on-site steel mill produces steel I-beams used in utility scale solar installations throughout the USA and foreign countries. The addition of the galvanizing operation, which will utilize the latest advances in environmental technology, positions Attala Steel as the only steelmaker in the U.S. with all three processing facilities in one location.
“We believe in Kosciusko, and we believe in Mississippi. What is good for our city and state is good for us all,” said Billy Atwood, Owner of Attala Steel Industries.
“When companies such as Attala Steel choose to further invest in their existing operations and create jobs for the residents of Mississippi, it reinforces the fact that Mississippi works and is a great place for businesses to operate,” Gov. Phil Bryant said. “I congratulate the team at Attala Steel on the opening of their new galvanizing facility, and I wish the company many years of success in Kosciusko.”
The Mississippi Development Authority provided assistance in support of the project to help transport equipment to the new facility.
“Attala Steel’s expansion is another great sign that the economy in Mississippi is getting stronger. I appreciate the company for creating these new job opportunities for the area’s workforce,” said MDA Executive Director Brent Christensen. “We thank our partners at the Kosciusko Attala Development Corporation for working with us to bring this project to fruition.”
