DG Foods Expands Hazlehurst, Mississippi, Production Operations

04/11/2026
Poultry processor DG Foods plans to expand its operations in Hazlehurst, Mississippi. The $1.19 million project is expected to create 32 jobs in Copiah County.

The investment at the company’s existing facility will include the installation of automated chicken nugget portioning equipment to expand production capacity.

“DG Foods is grateful for the support from the Mississippi Development Authority,” said Chris Carter, CEO of DG Foods. “This partnership has played an important role in our growth, and we appreciate the opportunity to work together on this project. We are excited to invest further in our Hazlehurst operations, strengthen our capabilities with new technology and create additional jobs for the community we call home.”

To support the project, the Mississippi Development Authority (MDA) is providing assistance through the Mississippi Flexible Tax Incentive (MFLEX) program. Copiah County is also assisting with the project.

“Economic development isn’t just about recruiting new companies. It’s about reinvesting in the industries and employers already doing the work, like Hazlehurst’s DG Foods,” noted Bill Cork, Executive Director of the Mississippi Development Authority. “This expansion creates jobs, ramps up production and drives local tax revenue, which keeps communities thriving.”

DG Foods provides poultry processing services including deboning, portioning, and value-added production for customers across the food industry.

“Copiah County Economic Development District is grateful to the Mississippi Development Authority for its support of Copiah County and DG Foods,” added Arthur L. Evans, Jr., Executive Director of the Copiah County Economic Development District. “This project will help strengthen the company’s operations and support continued economic growth in our community.”
