Seohan Auto USA Corporation Plans Second Manufacturing Plant In Auburn, Alabama
10/02/2013
The Korean-based firm, which employs approximately 240 workers, supplies front axles and rear carrier assemblies to several car manufacturers in the US. Seohan’s second Auburn plant will focus on machining metal components for the automotive industry.
According to city officials, in the initial phase of the project Seohan will create approximately 50 additional jobs by 2015. The decision by Seohan represents an additional capital investment of an estimated $16.6 million in the Auburn economy.
Chang-Dug Moon, President of Seohan Auto USA Corporation said, “The expansion will allow us to serve our new customer Mitsubishi Motors. The success of our business is due in part to Auburn’s strong workforce and the support of the City of Auburn and the State of Alabama.”
“Almost exactly five years ago we celebrated the grand opening of Seohan’s first facility in Auburn. We knew that Seohan would be an excellent partner to Auburn. Companies have many options to locate their investments, and we are proud and grateful that Seohan continues to trust in Auburn,” said Mayor Bill Ham, Jr. “I would like to congratulate Seohan officials on the announcement of their expansion plans.”
“Seohan realizes what many of us have known about Auburn for years, it is a great place to live, a great place to raise a family, and a great place to do business,” said Alabama House Speaker Mike Hubbard. “Auburn has a tremendous group of city, county, and state officials as well as an incredibly hard working economic development team. Working together we have seen great success in recruiting new businesses as well as expanding existing ones. I expect this job growth and economic success will continue for years to come.”
