Benteler Automotive's $32 Million Expansion to Bring 98 Jobs to Indiana

10/20/2011
Auto industry supplier Benteler Automotive will begin the first phase of its $32.2 million expansion in Goshen, Indiana, after the Goshen City Council finalizes a $2 million tax abatement agreement (anticipated to occur in early November). The new Elkhart County project is expected to add 98 jobs to the local economy.

The Germany-based company also announced plans to create 80 more jobs by 2016, purchase $22.1 million in equipment, and invest another $7 million on construction activity.

For more than 70 years Benteler has been working in the automotive industry. It develops and produces components, modules and systems for ride and handling, safety and emission. The firm employs 24,280 associates at 150 locations in 35 countries.

Elkhart County was the top destination for new corporate investment in 2009 among metro areas with populations less than 200,000, according to data tracked in Conway Data Inc.'s New Plant Database. Its Economic Development Corporation has supported over 20 expansion projects announced this year by local companies estimated to bring $112 million in investment and create 1,694 jobs in the county.
