Bechtel Corp to Relocate Key Operations to Virginia and Create 625 Jobs
11/08/2011
Bechtel is one of the world's most renowned engineering, project management and construction companies. Its corporate headquarters is in San Francisco, California.
"We look forward to opening our offices in Reston, Virginia, next year," said Bechel's President/CEO Bill Dudley. He lauded the Reston Town Center as an "ideal location" as it gives Bechtel a "central, more convenient location" to Washington, D.C., and two major airports, as well as proximity to the Dulles Technology Corridor.
Gov. McDonnell added that Bechtel was attracted to the Commonwealth due to its cost and business environment, as well as its ability to attract a workforce capable of meeting future growth needs, most notably IT and engineering employees.
The project has been approved for a $1.5 million grant from the Governor's Opportunity Fund, and a $5 million state incentive grant. Funding also will be provided by Virginia to help with recruitment and training needs.
Currently Fairfax County is home to nine Fortune 500 headquarters, said a local official.
