The new facility will accommodate more than 600 BB&T associates who work primarily in administrative, back office and support functions. BB&T expects to complete construction and move into the facility by the end of the fourth quarter. The company’s mortgage servicing and other operations are currently located at 301 College St. in Greenville.
"The construction of this new mortgage servicing center is indicative of BB&T's commitment to South Carolina, Mauldin and the greater Greenville area," said Tol Broome, BB&T Mortgage Lending president. "With this state-of- the-art facility we will be better equipped to provide our clients with superior service as we help them fulfill the dream of homeownership."
"The city of Mauldin is proud to welcome BB&T's Mortgage Division to our city," said Mayor Dennis Raines, city of Mauldin. "The addition of BB&T will positively impact our community and generate more opportunities for the entire upstate, and we are committed to working with them to make this endeavor a huge success. Mauldin has worked diligently to enhance opportunities for growth and development. Our geographic location, outstanding infrastructure, and exceptional quality of life make Mauldin an excellent choice for business. Congratulations BB&T and welcome to Mauldin."
"Being able to welcome BB&T's Mortgage Division is an enormous opportunity for the city of Mauldin," said Taft Matney, city council member and chairman of the Economic Planning and Development Committee. "BB&T's decision to locate in Millport at East Butler and I-385 showcases more advantages for business in Mauldin. This project will attract more businesses, hotels, and restaurants to the area and highlight the city as a prime location for corporate investment. The collaboration among Jack Shaw and Sons, Mauldin's city staff, Greenville County, and the state Department of Commerce to attract another great project to the City of Mauldin highlights Commerce Secretary Bobby Hitt's philosophy that economic development is a team sport."
