Automotive Plastic Injection Molding Firm Builds $12 Million Plant in Tennessee
03/26/2012
Kyowa America specializes in manufacturing plastic parts used in automotive applications. Its products include hi-gloss molded finish, gas-assisted molding, in-mold decoration, custom painting, and a full array of assembly capabilities. Situated in the Roberson County section of the city, on Fred White Boulevard, a company spokesman said the plant is expected to be operational by late summer.
"The company will be a great addition to the corporate landscape in Portland," Gov, Bill Haslam said. "When companies like Kyowa choose Tennessee for their next base of operations, it speaks very highly of the available workforce and the business friendly climate our state offers. Tennessee has proven time and again that it is a great place to do business with our many advantages including a central location, strong transportation infrastructure and business friendly climate."
While details of any incentive package offered Kyowa was not immediately available, the Governor noted the state adopted a package of incentives to attract business, which includes reducing cumbersome regulations that have stifled business growth and providing grants and tax breaks based on job creation.
The state of Tennessee, city of Portland, Robertson County Chamber of Commerce, Tennessee Valley Authority, Middle Tennessee Industrial Development Association and the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce all worked together to bring Japan-based Kyowa America to Middle Tennessee. Kyowa officials told state representatives they chose Tennessee, because of its location, proximity to its customer base and the availability of transportation.
