Mercury Marine Selects Fond du Lac, Wisconsin for Boat Engine Plant

Mercury Marine, a boat engine maker, will add 200 jobs in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. Governor Jim Doyle has extended $5 million in performance-based incentives to the company, which was also considering locating in Mexico.

"The unique combination available in Fond du Lac of a skilled and experienced work force, world-class processes, a solid supply base, and strong community support provides the best option for the remaining MerCruiser operations," said Mark Schwabero, president of Mercury Marine.

Mercury formerly had its MerCruiser assembly operations in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Its move is expected to be completed by the end of 2011. It plans to expand its Fond du Lac work force of 1,900 workers by 1,000 employees within five years.
