Ontario, Canada-based Silcotech North America will establish its new silicone injection molding production facility in East York Industrial Park near the City of York. The planned 18,000-square-foot facility is expected to be completed next July.
“We are excited about locating our new facility in York County. South Carolina has the right mix of business-friendly climate, skilled workforce and market access we were looking for in establishing a new facility. We appreciate all the support we’ve received from state and local officials,” said Michael Maloney, president of Silcotech North America Inc.
“The new facility will have state-of-the-art equipment and technology to serve the most demanding requests in today’s silicone injection molding industry,” said Isolde Boettger, vice president of Silcotech North America Inc.
Silcotech produces specialized silicone components for a number of industries including: the medical device, automotive, consumer electronics and solar industries. With the startup of Silcotech Carolina, the Silcotech Group adds another global stake in the ground to expand its proven expertise in molding, two-component molding and micro molding of liquid silicone rubber.
The company’s latest clean room facility in York will continue to grow the innovative problem solving spirit synonymous with the company’s history to ensure its customers stay in the lead, the South Carolina Department of Commerce said. The York facility, together with the Canadian and Indian operations, offers customers greater flexibility in covering their market demands.
“It’s exciting to see another international firm put down roots in South Carolina. We celebrate Silcotech North America’s decision to invest $3.5 million and create 50 new jobs near the City of York. We welcome them to South Carolina’s business community,” said Gov. Nikki Haley. The Coordinating Council for Economic Development approved a set aside grant of $160,000. readySC, a division of the S.C. Technical College System, will provide pre-employment training.
“Silcotech is a world-wide pacesetter in liquid injection molding technology. We are indeed pleased they have selected York County for this significant project,” York County Council Chairman Britt Blackwell said. “York County proactively seeks innovative partnerships like these that assure high-quality jobs by targeting this type of manufacturing company for our area. We look forward to adding yet another industry leader to our growing list of international firms.”
