G-CON Manufacturing Expands Groton, Connecticut, Plant Facility
09/25/2017
According to company officials, the POD facility will now include tablet coating and incorporate GEA’s ConsiGma continuous table coater.
The new PODs will provide tablet coating capability in the existing line at Pfizer’s site in Groton, Conn. G-CON will work closely with GEA to integrate their leading-edge ConsiGma Continuous Tablet Coater equipment within the PODs.
The additional PODs will occupy approximately 700 square feet of area adjacent to the existing PCMM PODs and will include a film coating process area, dedicated airlocks for personnel and material, and an integrated technical space for the G-CON and GEA mechanical systems. The GEA equipment will be integrated in the PODs and tested prior to delivery to further reduce the time and complexity of installation at the Groton site and minimize the downtime of Pfizer’s current operations.
“The PCMM POD facility currently installed at Pfizer was designed with the flexibility for future expansion in mind,” said Dennis Powers, Director of Sales Engineering at G-CON Manufacturing. “We are very excited and grateful for the opportunity to design and build the additional PODs for Pfizer that will further enhance their capability to manufacture tablets for their patients.”
